I recently just worked on a 2017 Renegade at home... air filter was original. The jeep had 80,000 miles on it and was taken to said dealers every maintenance interval for LOFs, rotates, inspections etc. So that shows this mentality won't go away... The airbox had 3 Phillips head screws holding it down. Often times if it was not a plastic material or metal spring clip or two to inspect .. it didn't get inspected. Work is hard.
